Miami Heat Scholarships

Miami Heat Scholarships offer four different scholarship opportunities for high school students currently attending public or private schools in Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach County, Florida. Students must demonstrate financial need. The scholarships include two Miami Heat Scholarships and one Dr. Jack Ramsay Scholarship for students who excel academically and in service to their communities, and one Alec Kessler Student-Athlete Scholarship for a student who has demonstrated high academics, community service and participation in sports. All requirements also include financial need. Students must be entering college for the first time and have a grade point average of 3.2 or above. They will be required to complete a 500-word essay outlining their accomplishments and career goals and provide letters of recommendation stipulated by each scholarship. The scholarships are funded by the Miami Heat Charitable Fund, a non-profit organization established in 1997 to provide scholarships, tutoring and mentoring programs for inner-city students in South Florida. It also funds domestic violence shelters, children's hospitals and programs that promote safe and drug-free communities. The Miami Heat is an NBA professional basketball team based in Miami, Florida, United States. The team has won multiple national championships with star players Dwyane Wade and Lebron James. The deadline for this scholarship is usually in APRIL of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,500. For more details, visit www.nba.com/heat/community/community_education_scholarships.html
