Available to youth ages 5-25 and teachers/educators who work with youth ages 5-25, YSA will award 10-20 $500 or $1,000 grants to youth-led projects that address important community needs while helping youth - many of who have no first hand memory of the event - remember and honor the 9/11 victims and their families, understand the significance of the event, and commit to sustaining our democracy through service. Projects will need to address one of YSA's 9 for 9/11 - 9 lessons from the event and related ideas for service-learning projects. www.YSA.org/grants/911

RI is in need of an intern with film/video editing experience. Final Cut Pro proficiency/mastery is required, as this is an active editing position (not a coffee runner, file person). Ideal candidate will have final cut pro on his/her laptop and can work out of our office 2-3 days (mornings or afternoons) per week. College credit provided with tremendous entertainment, editing and communication/pr experience at a worldwide relief agency. They are giving $1000 scholarships to 3 boys ages 14 -17 for our summer boot camp program that we conduct at CSUN. That reduces the fee to $980 for a 12 day program with 70+ hours of training, photo shoot, and two showcases for agents. Participants can come as day students or live on campus in dorm with other kids from all over the country -- and a few international kids as well.

"Embracing Mistakes" is the theme for the 2011 WKCD Graduation Speech Contest, because we want to hear from you—whether you are a senior or a freshman—about the good side of getting things wrong. The contest is open to youth ages 12 to 19. The speech must be 300 - 500 words long and address the theme, "Embracing Mistakes." There will be five winners ($100 gift certificate from Amazon.com).
