Columbia College Hollywood - High School Day

Dear Prospective Student,

If you're still dreaming of a career in the film and television industry, get off the couch and join Columbia College Hollywood at our next Experience CCH Day on Friday, July 29th, 2011 from 11am-3pm. During our Experience CCH day, you'll learn how our students have gotten jobs on some of Hollywood's biggest films including Avatar, Twilight: Eclipse and Transformers 3.


You'll also tour our campus and see a live student production in action, meet with admissions and financial aid representatives , meet faculty members and hear about our newest class taught by Academy Award nominee James Franco (127 hours). What exactly is involved in being a showrunner? Join a panel of writer producers as they discuss their current status as both writers and production entities. How did they get their show to hit status and how do they keep it there? How do they take care of their own writing careers while also running a hit show? How do they guide other writers the process that they themselves have successfully navigated? How do they balance work and real life? What will they do differently next time?

Several top showrunners tell all.

4:30 PANEL – BREAKING IN
Join a panel of writers as they share their experiences of breaking into the television business. How did they break in? What did they do? How long did it take? What is their advice to up and coming writers who’ve yet to be staffed? What was some of the best and worst advice they got when they were trying to break in? What are the keys to not just breaking in but staying in the business?

A mix of seasoned and new writers plus representation discuss these and other questions.
