Darin C. Banks Foundation Scholarship
Darin C. Banks Foundation Scholarship Competition is for high school seniors between the ages of 16-18. Eligible students must be planning to enroll full-time in a U.S. accredited college or university.
To qualify, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above and be U.S. citizens. Application requirements include a completed application, essay, transcripts and test scores, resume and two letters of recommendation. Applicants may choose one of three essay questions to answer in 500 words or less.
The Darin C. Banks Foundation provides the scholarship to help students with financial need to be able to attend college. In addition to the scholarship, the foundation provides mentoring programs to help students explore and choose careers and continue to build strong character and a sense of commitment to their communities.
Darin C. Banks was a procurement specialist and a philanthropist. He earned his Bachelor's degree at Michigan State University and his Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University. He understood the financial challenges of college and was a strong supporter of higher education. After his passing in 2009, his wife, Michelle, established the foundation in his memory to continue his legacy of service to others.
The deadline for this scholarship is JANUARY 31, 2014 and the award amount is usually $1,000.
