Childhood obesity is a very serious issue in California and the nation. In an effort to combat the issue and promote healthier choices, California has moved to take sodas out of schools, give students healthy school lunch options and promote exercise and a healthy lifestyle. However, some argue that California still hasn't done enough, and that budget cuts eliminating PE classes and healthy lunches are a step in the wrong direction. On the other hand, many people think that eating and exercise habits are personal decisions and none of the state's business. Ten winning essayists from the Legischool Essay Contest will be selected to come to the State Capitol and participate in this Legislative Summit and the Student Run Press Conference. Postmark Deadline: Friday, January 21, 2011.
